The Kuopio-born artist and art collector Risto Vilhunen, also known as Leonardo da Vilhu, who was born on 28th October 1945, presented his collection of icons and religious objects to the Finnish Orthodox Church Museum Foundation in 2018. This meant an input of over 1000 items for the RIISA museum’s collections, the largest single category being predominantly 18th and 19th-century icons cast in metal. A selection from this donation is now on display at the museum under the title Light Divine to mark the artist’s 75th birthday.
